Relationship Intensives
Focused work for couples and individuals navigating serious relationship strain.
When relationships reach a breaking point, weekly therapy often moves too slowly for the questions people are facing.
Relationship intensives provide the time and space needed to examine the relationship carefully and determine what comes next.
When Intensives are the Most Helpful
Many couples consider intensive work when the relationship is experiencing:
• Discovery of an affair or betrayal
• Repeated arguments that never resolve
• Loss of emotional or sexual connection
• Broken trust between partners
• Uncertainty about the future of the relationship
You may feel that the situation requires deeper attention than occasional sessions can provide.
Why Intensives Work?
Traditional therapy typically meets once per week.
While that approach can help many issues, relationships experiencing serious strain often require deeper and more focused attention.
Intensives allow us to:
• Understand what led to the breaking point
• Examine patterns within the relationship
• Determine whether rebuilding trust is realistic
• Begin restoring connection if both partners choose that path
INVESTMENT
Relationship intensives are a focused form of therapy designed to address complex relationship issues more effectively than traditional weekly sessions.
Most intensive work falls between:
$1,500 – $4,800 depending on the depth of support needed
WHERE TO START
The first step is a consultation to understand what’s happening and determine whether this approach is the right fit.
From there, we begin with a structured relationship evaluation before moving into focused intensive work if appropriate.
Who Relationship Intensives Are For
Relationship intensives are designed for couples and individuals who are facing serious strain in a relationship and want to understand what is happening before making major decisions.
Many people who pursue intensive work are experiencing situations such as:
• Discovery of an affair or betrayal
• Repeated arguments that never seem to resolve
• Trust that feels damaged or uncertain
• Emotional or sexual disconnection
• Uncertainty about whether the relationship can continue
Many couples arrive feeling overwhelmed by emotion and unsure what to do next.
Relationship intensives provide focused time to slow the situation down, examine the relationship carefully, and determine what path forward makes the most sense.
When it May Not Be the Best Fit
Relationship intensives are designed for couples and individuals who are ready to examine the dynamics of their relationship and make thoughtful decisions about what comes next.
There are some situations where a different level of care is more appropriate.
Relationship intensives may not be the right starting point when:
• There is ongoing domestic violence or concerns about physical safety
• Either partner is experiencing active suicidal or homicidal thoughts that require immediate crisis support
• Substance addiction is currently the primary issue affecting the relationship and has not yet been stabilized
• One partner is unwilling to participate in examining the relationship dynamics
If you are unsure whether an intensive is appropriate for your situation, we can discuss this during the consultation and determine the safest and most helpful path forward.

FAQs
-
When relationships reach a breaking point, many couples want clarity quickly.
Intensives provide focused time to examine the relationship carefully rather than trying to work through complex issues in short weekly sessions.
-
Not necessarily. Therapy intensives are ideal for couples and individuals facing betrayal, high conflict, or major decision points, but they’re also a strong fit for those who want more time and traction than weekly sessions can offer.
-
I don’t bill insurance directly, but I do provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
-
Each intensive includes:
A 90 minute evaluation
Your scheduled intensive time (half day, full day, or two day)
A 50 minute integration session one week from the intensive session.
A post session Relationship Roadmap which is a detailed recap of our work, personalized resources, and recommendations for your next steps.
-
No. These sessions are structured, focused, and deeply strategic.
We’ll use methods like EMDR, Gottman informed interventions, sex therapy, and trauma focused relational repair to move you forward, not just revisit the pain.
-
That’s okay. You don’t need to have the outcome decided to do the work. The intensive can help bring clarity about what’s worth repairing and what would need to change for the relationship to be viable.
-
Relationship intensives are conducted virtually, allowing couples and individuals to participate from their own space while still engaging in focused, structured work.
